Since 2007, Mikkael Doczekalski lives and works in Paris under the name Graphset.
Graphset covers a wide range of digital arts: from 3D printing, to experimental animation, through installation and electronic sculpture.
His production is nourished by an atypical academic and professional background. Initially trained in automated systems techniques, he began his professional life in the world of industrial robotics. He thus developed a graphic logic and a work process that he turned into a creative approach when he entered the fine arts school of Cergy in 2002.
His taste for technical innovation led him to embark on a series of artistic investigations exploring the notion of digital and its impact on our relationship to the world. He started working on our perception of reality, testing the fine line between virtual and real worlds. Furtheron, he initiated a series of research projects involving science and technology aimed at understanding and anticipating the technological upheavals of the next great technological revolutions (from our production systems to the conquest of virtual territories).
In order to be able to carry out most of these projects autonomously Graphset takes advantage of the virtually unlimited resources offered by the Internet and trains himself in various techniques to meet his artistic needs: 3D modeling and rendering, 3D animation, 3D printing, laser cutting, electronics, mechanics, programming...
The protean nature of Graphset's production may be disconcerting at first. However, each new creation adds its stone to an underlying global reflection: that of our slow but sure slide towards the digitization of bodies, minds and territories.
